Welcombe Mouth is a very secluded and quiet beach just over the border in Devon. This hidden gems is part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is surrounded by steep, rocky cliffs and costal slopes. When the tide is low it reveals a small beach of golden sand with many rock pools to be found along the fore shore.

General Free parking available at Welcombe Mouth and Village Hall. Free parking also at the Old Smithy as long as you also use the pub! Phone signal can be weak, especially at the beaches. In an emergency send someone by car inland to get a signal. Wear walking boots/shoes or wellies on footpaths. Especially important if the ground is wet.

It is a spacious coastline with turquoise water and bright sand & rocks cover, so it is recommended to wear special shoes.

1a. Starting at Welcombe Mouth: Follow the acorn-waymarked South West Coast Path (SWCP) steeply uphill, sea to your right. If you're doing this in summer, don't step on the big furry caterpillars that share the path. Steps aid the ascent and you eventually reach a memorial bench to Harold Keays.

Welcombe Mouth. A secluded and quiet bay located at the end of a rough unmade road. A small car park gives access to one of the loveliest beaches near Hartland. Some of the lanes to get here are quite narrow but it is worth the effort. Sandy from mid tide onwards, it also offers some excellent rock pools.
